Wike Wants to Make Rivers State His Private Estate – Peter Odili

0

A former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili has accused another governor of the state, Nyesom Wike of intending to turn the state to his personal and private estate. He stated this when Simi Fubara paid a visit to him for Christmas.

There has been rift and unresolved crisis between Wike, who left power in 2023 and his successor Simi Fubara. The latter accused Wike of attempting to rule the oil rich state by proxy, an allegation Wike denied.

The wrangling between the two men has pushed Rivers to the brink of a major political violence. Odili added that with fortitude, Fubara has been able to confront the challenge posed by the minister of Federal Capital Territory, Wike.

“With assuring fortitude, Governor Fubara confronted the challenge, prevented the quest by one man to capture the State as a private estate, emancipated Rivers people, steadied governance and made civil servants and Rivers people happier as it used to be until he left office in 2007”, he said.

Fubara said he was happy to visit the former governor and acknowledged the support he has received to stand up to Wike.

“So, it is not me being strong. My strength is drawn from every one of you that is here. You gave me encouragement; you do the work for me; you make the calls for me. So, why won’t I stand up for you?

“But we also believe strongly that the ultimate game changer, the ultimate liberator, and the ultimate fighter still remains God Almighty. And because we have Him on our side, victory is assured,” he said.
