Wike orders land owners get new C of O or risk losing lands.
The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike has ordered landowners in the territory to reapply for certification of the land they occupy. This is coming barely four months after the former governor took over the affairs of the territory.
His new order has unnerved residents of the city most especially landlords because of the stringent rules that came with new instruction of the minister.
The landowners will have to N50,000 for private individuals or N100,000 as corporate organisations. The ex Rivers State governor said that the recertification would require the National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN).
He said, “There are a lot of discrepancies, a lot of cloning of C-of-Os, so we have come up with an idea that every allottee who seeks and applies for a C-of-O must supply his NIN; this is one of the features we are going to put in the new C-of-O.”
The minister, Wike, added, “For everyone who has a C-of-O, they will come for a recertification, so that we can incorporate the NIN or BVN.”
