Wike: “a patient of two diseases”

The two “diseases” FCT Minister Wike Suffers From

The current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike is suffering from two diseases. One is contagious while the other is not. The minister has stirred the hornet’s nest with his utterances and perhaps immediate steps he has taken in his new office.

The diseases here are both malaria and cancer. It’s not that Wike has been admitted to a hospital for treatment or flown out of the country for the usual “medical tourism” political leaders constantly embark upon. He diagnosed himself, and possibly he would prescribe the necessary drugs.

In one of his unbridled utterances, Wike described the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as “malaria” while the currently ruling All Progressives Congress as cancer. It’s much easier to diagnose and treat the former without even admitting the patient to the hospital. Cancer is a very deadly disease and its treatment is costly as well.

He made the statement while he was in the PDP without a foresight that he would find himself hanging on the fence later. He talks with the two sides of his cheek. He wanted to make it clear that time that malaria is preferable to cancer. He was right, medically. But both malaria and cancer in his own context are dangerous.

He has not denounced and withdrawn his membership of the opposition party. That means he still suffers from malaria. Yet he suffers from cancer as well by virtue of his present rapport with the All Progressives Congress. He worked for the success of cancer to maintain its footholds and spread in the country.

Mr. Nyesom Wike wouldn’t stop at that. Since he helped the APC to win the election, he wouldn’t mind being part of the government, and of course the cancer which is eating deep to the fabrics of sociopolitical and economic development of the country. He accepted the offer to serve as one of the malignant tumors that kill the cells of the country.

For close to 9 years that the APC has been at the corridors of power, thousands of businesses have died, thousands of lives have been lost to insecurity (banditry, Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping, agitation for secession, etc). That’s how cancer operates too.

It will have been better if Nyesom Wike leaves the fence on which he sits at this moment. A part of him is suffering from “malaria” while he is also part of the cancer, as he called the PDP and the PDP respectively.
