US President Joe Biden can’t help Ukraine in the crisis with Russian forces. The President of the United States is supposed to have intervened to help the weak side.
Biden had warned that Russia would strike and attack Ukraine. He specifically said that it was a matter of time. And it did happen that Russian forces struck Ukraine in the middle of the night.
The United States and its president can’t help Ukraine at all. The best they can do is to call for calm and restraint in the use of forces in the crisis.
Ukraine doesn’t belong to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The article 5 of the organisation doesn’t permit fighting for a nonmember of the group. Hence, it is not an obligation for Biden to wade in.
The NATO came into existence after the Cold War between the West led by the USA and the defunct Soviet union. The aim of NATO is to protect member states. Unfortunately, Ukraine isn’t a member.
There were several efforts to convince Kyiv to join the organisation. But pressure and intimidation from Moscow stopped the membership. And Kyiv believed that it had better be neutral.
President Joe Biden would have granted an approval to help Ukraine militarily. But the second largest European country isn’t a member of the bloc.
The second reason is that the United States just left Afghanistan after two decades. The American forces found themselves stuck in the middle of endless war in the restive region.
President Joe Biden lamented that the United States had lost so much in Afghanistan. Therefore, he withdrew the USA forces. NATO followed suit.
Biden wouldn’t want to commit the United States to another war most especially in Europe. And it is obvious that America won’t want to face a nuclear-amed state.
A fight between Russia and the USA would be extremely devastating. It will cause so much damage that the world would grapple with for long. Therefore, President Joe Biden can’t help Ukraine in the conflict.
