Who is/are forging Ailing Ondo Governor Akeredolu’s signature?
The Ondo State commissioner of energy and mineral resources Razak Obe was the first to raise an alarm officially that some persons are forging the signature of the state governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
He wrote a letter to the deputy governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to raise the alarm. He said that there are some irregularities in the signature. He said that his ministry sent five files to the governor for his approval and only one had been returned.
It’s in that same file that he observed the discrepancy in the signature. The commissioner said that he asked a forensic expert to crosscheck the known signature and the suspected one before making his discovery known.
The forensic returned the documents to him and affirmed that the latest signature and handwriting papers were actually forged. He revealed in the letter that the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu would do the same thing if he were on ground.
According to Sahara Reporters, the Department of State Service (DSS) has moved in to act. The secret police have invited the commissioner who raised the alarm in their efforts to unravel the circumstances around the suspected forgery. Who is then forging the signature?
There is no doubt that the governor is incapacitated. He couldn’t lead himself let alone the state anymore. He has obviously been cut off from the reality. Therefore, Akeredolu can’t do anything. But his family has been around and to state he fact ruling the state by proxy.
When President Bola Tinubu summoned the Ondo State stakeholders, his wife Beatrice and son were there even though they hold no particular stake other than being family members of the ailing Governor.
There have never been any alarm from them. They have been working underground as they tend to the recuperation of Akeredolu in Ibadan. Most probably, the family members receive documents from Ondo State and append the signature on behalf of the governor, a former head of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
If the family members aren’t complicit in the matter, then the Chief of Staff and the Secretary to the State Government would know one or two things about the issue. In most cases, the Chief of Staff is more powerful than the deputy governors, who are just redundant in their offices.
