Rivers State Governor Simi Fubara has subtly told his predecessor and of course benefactor Nyesom Wike that they would see how the crisis rocking the state would end. Rift started between the two men almost immediately after Fubara took over the affairs of the state from Wike, who is now the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
They have been at loggerheads and almost succeeded in pushing the state to the verge of a serious political violence. They have hitherto chosen media to attack each other.
Fubara was at the 7th anniversary of the coronation of Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi, a politician-turned-traditional ruler of the Akoh people in the Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He said, “Let’s ignore the noise some people are making. When the time is right, we will know who is who.”
The governor didn’t mention the name of the people who are making the noise, but his tirade has always been directed to Nyesom Wike.
“So don’t worry about anything. It is God that has led us from that day till today, and each day we get stronger and stronger. It is only God.
“We are not achieving all this because of our strength or because we are boasting. It is because our strength is built in God. So, we don’t need to worry about what people are saying. Let the time come, and we will see how it will end”.
He stated the reason he visited the kingdom adding that the traditional ruler, formerly a politician, stood by him through thick and thin.
“My coming to Akoh Kingdom is to show support to one of our own, a man who has decided to join the good side of history. A man who has endured punishment because of this struggle, yet still stood his ground. The least I can do is to come to his kingdom and show solidarity with him.”
