We Won’t Evict Ado Bayero out of Palace – Police
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State has said that his command wouldn’t evict the newly deposed Kano emir Aminu Ado Bayero despite the order given by the state governor Abba Yusuf that the police remove the embarrassed monarch.
There have been tussles over the stool of the emir of Kano. Abba Yusuf undid almost everything that former governor Umar Ganduje did on the Chieftaincy matters of the northwestern state. He made the Kano State House of Assembly repeal the laws creating additional Emirates. That ultimately deposed Aminu Ado Bayero and returned Sanusi Lamido II, two cousins, to the throne.
The Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel said that the matter is already in the court and that not until a final verdict is given, the police would not act on the order of Governor Yusuf to evict Ado Bayero.
“The government is jumping the gun because the same government has filed a case on the eviction order, which is coming up on the 24th of June, 2024. So, if we carry out the order, it is like we are pre-empting the court because we don’t know what will happen at the court,” he added.
