The leader of the agitation for a Yoruba Nation, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho has insisted that the struggle for a Yoruba Nation would continue and it’s a goal to be achieved.
During the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the struggle reached the peak with the Department of State Services (DSS) invading Igboho’s home. He eventually fled to Benin Republic where he was detained for some time. Upon his release, igboho continues to call for the establishment of the nation although a Yoruba man has taken over from Buhari.
In his new year message, the agitator said there would be no going back, and that would be the watchword for 2025. He asked all indigenes of Yoruba Land to get ready for the challenges ahead.
Igboho emphasized that there would be peaceful protests and rallies to achieve the nationhood.
“Our watchword remains ‘No going back.’ This is the time for unity, courage, and focus. We are resolute in our mission, and we call on all Yoruba sons and daughters to be prepared for what lies ahead,” he said.
Igboho, who talked through his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki added, “Peaceful protests and rallies will be held continuously to assert our rights to self-determination. Do not fear—this is a movement that will bring about the change we all desire.”
Igboho called for unwavering unity among the people and urged everyone to stay vigilant, proactive, and determined in their resolve.
“This is not the time for hesitation. We must sit up, organize, and move forward together. The journey may be challenging, but our destination is clear, and our victory is certain,” he stated.
