0

Matches were played across England yesterday in the elite competition, English Premier League. Some players have seen the back of the net more than other players and they lead in the goal log. Some teams (including Manchester United have outstanding matches) are yet to play up to 19 games.

Liverpool forward, Mohammed Salah tops the list with 15 goals and 9 assists. Liverpool couldn’t play on the boxing day due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Salah may be overtaken when he leaves for the Africans Nations Cup (AFCON).

Still on the log, Salah’s teammate, Diogo Jota has 10 goals to his own credit to be immediately behind the Egyptian maverick, Salah. Jota isn’t among top assist providers for now. When Salah goes for AFCON, Jota may overtake his colleague and ultimately top the log.

Sitting in the third position is the English international, Jamie Vardy, who has scored nine times in the Premier League. Vardy was on bench when Leicester City travelled to Ethiad yesterday.

Emile Smith Rowe (Arsenal), Son Heung-min (Tottenham) and Leeds United’s Raphinha have eight goals each. The young Arsenal player has been spectacular in front of goals these days. He was part of the beating of underperforming Norwich City yesterday.

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) have seven assists, three to fall behind Mohammed Salah.
