Todd Boehly and Chelsea revolution: the impending danger

Chelsea is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to make the club compete and win as many trophies as possible, but owner Todd Boehly may be creating an impending danger that is capable of causing instability in the London club.

Every club needs to reinforce and reintroduce new players to boost its chance and provide for a situation of injuries. But the current spree of spending and of buying players in Chelsea is worrisome. The fact that the step can later cause rancour is concerning.

Chelsea has bought the Ukrainian winger, Mykhailo Mudryk, French defender, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana. The team also got Portugal forward Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid.

The six players above arrive at Chelsea in January during the transfer window. In the last summer window, the Blues bought Senegalese defender Khoulibaly, Spanish player, Cucurella, English forward Raheem Sterling among other signings.

One wouldn’t make a mistake to claim that Chelsea has acquired a new set of team plus the one on ground. And that’s where the problem lies. Of course, when those on injuries arrive, first XI selection would become a serious problem for the team.

There is no indication that Chelsea would sell some players. Even the aged ones including Brazilian Thiago Silva and Azipulieta are doing fine which may make the team to renew their contract.

Reece James, Ngolo Kante, Pulisic, Ben Chillwell, Eduoad Mendy and others will soon return fully into the team having recovered from their respective protracted injuries.

Harry Potter who is already under pressure from fans though to perform will have to make a tough decision which will either provoke the new players or favour the old ones. Whatever choice he makes will backfire as a matter of fact.

If he fields the old players who are returning from injuries, the new intakes will feel disgruntled. They tend to even regret their joining the club and owner Todd Boehly would have spent money in vain. Meanwhile, the old players wouldn’t give the results.

As rightly predicted, if coach Potter starts the new players (by considering their price tags and forms), the dressing room will be hot for him. The old ones will become roguish. The aftermaths are not difficult to predict.
