Nigeria should condemn Israel and stand with Palestine – Sultan of Sokoto
The Sultan of Sokoto and leader of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Sa’ad Abubakar has called on the Nigerian Government under Bola Tinubu to condemn Israeli attacks on Gaza and declare its support for the people of Palestine.
The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as the Shiites has already staged two protests against the bombardment of the Gaza Strip by the Israeli military. The military is operating as retaliation against the surprising attack of the Palestinian Hamas on the southern region of Israel.
The NSCIA talked through Prof. Salisu Shehu and Yunus Ustaz Usman (SAN); NSCIA Deputy Secretary General and National Legal Adviser in a statement. The council asked the Nigerian Government to stand with the victims of Israeli attacks.
The statement partly asked Bola Tinubu’s government “to come out and stand clearly with the helpless victims of persistent Israeli persecution, massacre, oppression and suppression.”
