Tinubu’s Government Stops Rivers State Monthly Allocation
The government of President Bola Tinubu has decided to withhold the monthly allocation of Rivers State citing a court order. The office of the attorney general said that it would ensure compliance with the order which has ordered a stop to the allocation.
All the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory receive monthly allocation from the federal government when the FAAC shares the revenue with a fixed formula.
But the crisis in Rivers State pertaining to the assembly has made the court to order a stop to the payment. The Rivers State Governor Simi has had a running political battle with his predecessor Nyesom Wike.
A spokesperson for the attorney general of the federation, Bawa Mokwa said, “What I got is that the October 2024 FAAC has not been distributed yet. However, the Federal Government will obey the court order on the matter of Rivers State allocation.
“We are going to follow due diligence as long as there is no contrary order. In case there is a contrary, the status will remain.”
He added, “The process of disbursement of the October 2024 monthly allocation is going.”
