Tinubu’s presidential ambition may suffer early shock as a powerful northern group makes a serious demand. The Arewa Consultative Forum has asked for one particular thing.
The former governor of Lagos State declared his ambition some days ago when he went to meet the president, Muhammadu Buhari. He said there is nothing stopping a kingmaker from becoming a king.
Rumours have surrounded so many things about him including his health and age. But the Arewa Consultative Forum says those who doubt Tinubu’s health should get evidence.
Against the backdrop of his declaration, the Arewa Consultative Forum has reacted. The forum didn’t want Nigeria to have another sick president. Therefore, it calls for evidence that Tinubu is unhealthy.
Mr. Emmanuel Yawe, the spokesperson for the powerful forum, says that if people have evidence to show Tinubu isn’t strong enough, they should come out to present it.
The ACF said, “If people have issues or evidence about his (Tinubu) health, let them come out and speak. Let them provide evidence that he is not strong enough to contest for the Presidency or hold the office.”
The former president, Umar Musa Yar’adua died in the office after a protracted illness. Almost the same thing happened to president Muhammadu Buhari. He has been jetting out of the country for treatment.
He spent more than 200 days in the London hospital during his first term in office. That could have made the ACF to make demand for Tinubu’s health.
Tinubu also spent some months in a London hospital. Top personalities in the country even went to check on him at the hospital. Upon his return to Nigeria, he started his presidential bid.
The ACF concluded, “The people, who have the evidence that Tinubu is not strong enough for the office of Presidency, should save us the agony of having a sick President in office. They should speak out.”
