Tinubu to spend N1trn on 15m Nigeria, flags off cash transfer programme
President Bola Tinubu has officially flagged off the Renewed Hope conditional cash transfer programme. The initiative is part of the designed ways the current Government intends to use to lift millions of Nigerian from poverty.
The programme, not the first of its type though, will cater for 15,000,000 (fifteen million) households, which are the most vulnerable in the country. It’s also a way to cushion the effects of the removal of subsidy from petroleum.
Nigerians have been crying and groaning in pains since the government decided to remove the subsidy, which helped to cut the price of petrol. Nigerian economy largely depends of petroleum.
The president declared the programme open at the Press Gallery of the State House, Abuja on Tuesday while addressing pressmen.
Tinubu told Nigerians, “I hereby flag off the Renewed Hope conditional cash transfer programme for 15 million households targeted at uplifting poor and vulnerable Nigerians as an immediate intervention to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal and other economic shocks.”
