Tinubu talks tough again over Fuel and naira scarcity

Visibly angry Bola Tinubu talks tough again about the fuel and new naira scarcity that holds down Nigerians. The candidate couldn’t hide his emotions and he talked at the rally in Ado Ekiti, the headquarters of Ekiti State.

Bola Tinubu had initially said that some saboteurs are working against him. He alleged that the saboteurs added new ink to the 200, 500 and 1,000 notes just to make him lose the election. He didn’t provide details or the names of the saboteurs that time.

The former Lagos State governor often talks in Yoruba language when when he wants to send a strong message out there. He doesn’t even launch attacks on his main opponent Atiku Abubakar.

While in a campaign in Ekiti State, Bola Tinubu alleged overtly that some persons were planning interim government and that’s why there is scarcity.

Tinubu urged the Ekiti State voters to withstand the inconveniences that come with the collection of the Permanent Voter’s Card and to cast their votes. He also advised them to stay with their votes on that day.

The presidential hopeful accused some hoarders he didn’t name. He said they were hoarding the new naira notes and fuel so as to stoke tension and make people angry. He said that it would surely lead to imposition of an interim government.

He explained, “I beg you in the name of God, the situation on ground doesn’t need violence, do not fight with them, exercise patience…”

He further told the people at the rally ground, “They created naira scarcity to provoke you to anger so that there can be violence so that there will be disruption and so that they can postpone the election and impose an interim.”

The last interim leader in Nigeria was Mr. Ernest Shonekan, who led the country for just six months. He took over from the then military president, Ibrahim Babangida. And it was Sani Abacha, who hijacked power from the interim leader. That was several years ago.
