Tinubu, Atiku, Obi Need to Leave Politics for New Faces – Okonkwo
A former spokesperson for the campaign council of the Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has called on President Bola Tinubu, former vice president Alhaji Abubakar Atiku and the ex presidential candidate Obi to leave politics and allow new faces to lead the country.
The three men slugged it out for the top job of the country in the last general elections, which Tinubu won. They still fought bitterly in the court till the Supreme Court settled the matter.
Kenneth Okonkwo, who has also made damning comments about his former principal Obi said that the three men should leave the stage. Atiku has become a regular face in the banner contesting for the seat in 2019 and 2023. He chose Peter Obi as his running mate for the 2019 poll only for the former Anambra State governor to use the platform of the Labour Party to contest for the seat in 2013.
He said, “I completely agree with you that we need new faces, 100% and that is how I have said it, that Atiku, Peter Obi, and Tinubu should step aside. The reason is because the ruling party has failed, the opposition has failed. Are you aware that we have more opposition members as representatives than the ruling party? If they have come together, that is why I said coming together to form a consolidated fortune, before you even think to talk about merger.
“I am not saying merger is not important, I am saying don’t just finish an election and the next thing you start talking about is the next election. You consolidate and form an alliance to work together as an opposition.”
