They want to remove me so as to target Kwankwaso – Kano governor

The Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has claimed that the opposition is bent on his removal so as to target an ex governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The election petition tribunal sacked Yusuf, who got to power on the platform of the New Nigeria Political Party (NNPP). But the tribunal said that the governor was not duly elected as it declared that Yusuf Gawuna had the highest number of valid votes in the election.

Governor Yusuf said that his political ordeals are targeted to attack his political mentor and godfather, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who has an axe to grind with ex governor Umar Ganduje.

He said, “All his political travails including his losses at the Elections Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal are targeted attacks against his mentor and political godfather, Eng. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.”

“We are going to continue working under his (Kwankwaso) guidance and leadership to do the needful, God willing,” Yusuf declared, emphasising his unwavering loyalty to his political mentor.

“Even if the world says they are not going to give us anything because of his (Kwankwaso) vision, we are not going to turn our back on him and his vision,” he asserted.

The former governor, Kwankwaso also used the party (NNPP) to contest for the office of the president in the presidential election. He came fourth behind winner Bola Tinubu of the APC, Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Peter Obi, who used the Labour Party.

Ganduje, the current national chairman of the All Progressives Congress has boasted that his party would still win at the Supreme Court. Kano State Governor Yusuf has already approached the apex court to upturn the verdicts of the two lower courts.
