The silence from Aso Rock Tinubu aims to occupy

While every other part of the country is bustling with political events, the silence from Aso Rock Tinubu aims to occupy is deafening. The presidential villa is rather quiet. And that should upset the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Often President Muhammadu Buhari says he belongs to nobody and of course he belongs to everyone. That’s a political statement though. The president can’t say he’s neutral at a time his party, the APC intends to retain power.

Even Bola Tinubu has said he would follow Buhari’s steps if he wins the election. The president should be happy that his legacies will live on when he leaves. Consequently, he ought to openly back Tinubu’s hid. He will rather be silent.

Of course, Buhari has been at different rallies of Bola Tinubu. But that’s not enough. That Buhari asks Nigerians to vote for whomever they want is disturbing and contradicts with his presence at the rallies.

Mr. Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president, has literally hibernated since the primary election which he lost to Bola Tinubu. The vice president appears on some occasions in events to speak. And he is also quiet: neither backing nor opposing his benefactor, Tinubu.

Most of the ministers in Buhari’s cabinet are one way or the other Tinubu’s loyalists. He either nominated them or they had worked under him in the past. Mr. Lai Mohammed, the information minister, Mr. Raji Fashola, Tinubu’s successors are all quiet.

Understandably, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola has an axe to grind with the presidential hopeful. The issue in Osun State still haunt the ex governor. But the silence of Tinubu’s ex commissioner for work is disturbing as well.

Among all the ministers, only one is up and doing. Mr. Festus Keyamo, the minister of state for labour and productivity has been active in Tinubu’s ambition. Is Keyamo doing a charity job?

Mr. Keyamo is part of the team working on the journey to Aso Rock Tinubu aims to occupy. He is the spokesperson for the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress.

Why is the president and the cabinet silent? They ought to openly talk about the bid of the ex Lagos state governor. The Aso Rock Tinubu aims to occupy may not actually want the hopeful.
