Nigeria’s Super Eagles need 1 more Win to reach 2023 AFCON
The Super Eagles of Nigeria need just one more win or 3 points more to qualify for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Nigerian team grabbed 3 points to return to the top of the table of Group A of the AFCON qualifiers. They now sit on the table with 9 points and 11 goals.
There was a bleak when the wild dogs of Guinea Bissau stunned the Super Eagles in Abuja last Friday. The football team of Nigeria watched as the visitors scored and guided the one goal to get 3 points.
That tentatively brought Guinea Bissau to the top of the table with 7 points while Nigeria were in second with 6 points.
Simon Moses’s goal was really enough for the Super Eagles of Nigeria to win the match. The 3-time AFCON champions dominated the match, but the Wild Dogs resisted and tried to grab a draw with 1 point.
Nigeria need to win their next match to seal their place in the 2023 AFCON scheduled for later this year. A victory in the next game would put their tally to 12 and ultimately push them to the tournament.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria has earlier beaten both Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe, the two other teams in the group of 4.
