Go and Protest, Sowore Tells Nigerian Youths

A presidential aspirant and publisher of Sahara Reporters has charged Nigerian youths to go out there to protest against what he calls bad governance in the country.

The convener of RevolutionNow was on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday when he made the call and at the same time referred to what happened in 1993 when he was still a student. He talked about how he and others fought the military government of Ibrahim Babangida.

Sowore recalled that the pump price was increased to N3.25k and that made the people protest because they considered it unacceptable. The same fuel costs more than N600 now depending on where it’s bought.

The activist said, “In 1993, as students, we went to war against the military because they increased petrol (gasoline) price to N3.25k; it was unacceptable then, and Nigerian students fought hard against the economically ruinous World Bank and IMF-inspired policies under the guise of Structural Adjustment Program (SAP).

“Today, the petrol price is almost N1000 with a minimum wage of N30,000, but the priority of the @officialABAT is the Presidential Jet valued at $100M.

“It is important to note that the Nigeria Labour Congress @NLCHeadquarters betrayed Nigerians in 1993; one of the key labour leaders then was Adams Oshiomhole, yes, the same Senator @aoshiomhole.

“Let the youths/people of Nigeria rise up and fight! It can be done again, bigger and better! #RevolutionNow.”
