A presidential hopeful and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has put the blame of the three deadly stampedes on President Bola Tinubu. He slammed the president for his economic policies that have made life too difficult for the people of the country.
Online Parrot News reported that a stampede at Islamic High School, Ibadan claimed the lives of 35 persons, who were mostly children. They were attending a festive event hosted by a former queen of Ooni of Ile-Ife, Naomi Silekunola.
As if that’s not enough another stampede occured at the Holy Trinity Church Maitama Abuja on Saturday just like another one at Okija in Anambra State in which lots of women were confirmed dead. Online Parrot News has seen the video of the disaster.
In a Facebook post, the presidential candidate said that 100 people have perished in just one week in the three parts of the country.
He said, “Not less than 100 Nigerians have perished in less than a week in Ibadan (Oyo), Okija (Anambra), and Abuja (FCT) just in search of rice; this speaks precisely to the debilitating economic destruction wrought on Nigerians by the @officialABAT regime since his unfortunate ascension to power in May 2023.”
Online Parrot News couldn’t verify the figure quoted by Sowore. However, 35, 10 and 19 have been confirmed dead in Ibadan, Abuja and Anambra respectively.
He added that the desperation for survival points to the hunger and hardship in Nigeria, the citizens of whom he said are endangered.
“If anyone didn’t know how bad things are and how our people are really desperate for survival, this unprecedented but unwarranted death by hunger -suicide tells the real story.
Nigeria is in trouble and Nigerians are endangered!”
