Southeast Governors Take Step On Nnamdi Kanu
The five governors from the southeast geopolitical zone have come together to look for ways to secure the release of the incarcerated leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. All legal means to make him regain his freedom have failed as a court of appeal ruled against his application for his human rights.
The governors of Abia (Alex Otti ), Anambra (Charles Soludo) Enugu (Peter Mbah), Ebonyi (Francis Nwifiru) and Imo (Hope Uzodinma) have met to deliberate on the issue around the leader of the secessionist group.
According to Sahara Reporters, the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe was in attendance along with other top and powerful traditional rulers in the region.
The southeast governors’ meeting was also called to deliberate on the rising spate of killings in the region. Abia State has witnessed repeated attacks on security personnel including killing of five soldiers in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state. Only last week, gunmen opened fire on police officers at a checkpoint.
