Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly called Shiites have called on Nigerians to throw their weight behind the Palestinians, who are “passing through apartheid in their own country”.
Both Israel and the Islamic group Hamas are currently at war. The current impasse between the two warring sides started last Saturday when the group launched a massive, but surprising, attack on Israel.
The armed Hamas members used parachute and bulldozers to coordinate the attack in which they went from door to door to kill Israeli civilians. That prompted the Israeli Defence Force to start reprisals.
The Nigerian Shiites staged a protest immediately the crisis started to show solidarity for the Palestinians. The group also burnt Israeli flag while waving that of Palestine in Abuja.
The Shiites protest started from the popular Annur Mosque in Wuse 2 along IBB way immediately after the Juma’at Prayer, and ended at the traffic light at Ahmadu Bello way with burning of the American and Israel’s flags.
