Seyi Makinde comfortably cruise past Folarin, Adelabu.
Incumbent governor, Seyi Makinde, has recorded an unprecedented victory over his main opponents, Mr. Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress and Mr. Adebayo Adelabu of Accord.
The PDP’s candidate coasted home victory by convincingly beating the rivals. Seyi Makinde polled 563,617 to claim his mandate one more time.
Ahead of the gubernatorial election, Mr. Teslim Folarin, a senator representing Oyo south senatorial district, had boasted that he would unseat the incumbent popularly known as “Omi Tuntun”.
However, the senator managed to win just one local government area out of 33 in the state with a paltry or negligible margin. Folarin scored 251,230 to come second in the election, which is rather a walkover for the incumbent governor.
The 2019 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu came third behind the winner and the first runner-up. He polled 38,757 votes. He gave a good run for Makinde’s money in 2019 by polling over 300,000 votes.
Seyi Makinde has led a strong campaign promising the people of the state more good governance and security. He also enjoys the backups of the teeming civil servants, pensioners, who collect their entitlements as and when due.
The Late Abiola Ajimobi would be the first governor in the pacesetter state to rule for eight years. Seyi Makinde has replicated that particular feat.
