A former president of the Senate Bukola Saraki has mourned the victims of the tanker explosion in Dikko Junction in Niger State, north central of Nigeria. Online Parrot News reported that no fewer than 80 persons lost their lives in the disaster, which Saraki called “devastating tragedy”.
Saraki, who was a two-term governor of neighboring Kwara State, called for immediate attention and action.

He posted on his Facebook page, “The horrific petrol tanker explosion that occurred yesterday at Dikko Junction, Niger State, claiming the lives of at least 80 people and injuring many more, is a devastating tragedy that demands immediate attention and action.”
He added that Nigerians often take risks to survive and the incident shows the poor state of roads and infrastructure in the country. He further blamed poor maintenance of vehicle for the inferno.
He said, “This incident is a grim reminder of the risks Nigerians take to survive and highlights the poor state of our road infrastructure and inadequate vehicle maintenance, which together contribute to such accidents.
“Addressing these systemic issues is essential to prevent further tragedies and ensure the safety of all citizens.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the Niger State government, the victims, their families, and the entire community affected by this terrible loss.”
