Northern Politician Warns National Assembly Over Regional Government
The National Assembly has been warned over the proposal to return the country to the old regional system of government. Online Parrot News had reported that one Dr. Akin Fapohunda had drafted a proposal for a regional system of government for the country.
A former member of the Senate from Kaduna State, Mr. Shehu Sani has asked the lawmakers to be cautious in their approach to the proposal and that they shouldn’t be in a hurry to pass the bill as they did to the national anthem.
He posted his warning on the matter to his verified X (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday after a report that the president, Bola #Tinubu is set to receive the draft and send it to the lawmakers as an executive bill.
Shehu Sani, who regularly comments on sociopolitical matters, said, “The Senate and House of Reps should not use the National Anthem Speed track,without consultation and without public hearings to impose a regional Government on Nigerians.A constitutional matter must involve the state Houses of Assemblies.”
