Situations in Ukraine are now tense as Russia bombs Ukrainian Muslims in a mosque. The shelling has yet to cease in most of Ukrainian cities. Russia looks forward to taking over Kyiv.
Al Jazeera reported that Russian forces shelled a mosque in a southern Ukrainian city. Mariupol has also come under serious and ceaseless shelling.
Al Jazeera said that the mosque housed more than eighty adults and children. They were there to seek refuge, the Foreign ministry said on Saturday.
Russia has initially been accused of bombing a hospital for children. Moscow denied the news and called it fake. But the bombing of the mosque has yet to be denied by the Kremlin.
The ministry further stated that there were Turks among the people seeking refuge in the mosque in Mariupol, southern Ukraine. Meanwhile, the ministry didn’t give the number of casualties.
Part of the statement of the ministry said, “The mosque of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Roxolana (Hurrem Sultan) in Mariupol was shelled by Russian invaders,”.
It also added in a tweet that “More than 80 adults and children are hiding there from the shelling, including citizens of Turkey.”
Russia has denied targeting civilians in Ukraine. The largest European country said it was after only the military infrastructure of Ukraine.
The Russia president, Vladimir Putin, had declared what he called a “special military operation” in Ukraine. Russia and Ukraine used to be components of the collapsed USSR.
Furthermore, Kyiv has raised alarm that Russia wouldn’t allow evacuation of civilians from Mariupol. A blockade has left hundreds of thousands of people trapped.
Russia too has replied Ukraine. Moscow argued that Kyiv should have the blame for its failure to evacuate the trapped people.
The southern city is manned by Russian forces that encircle the area. Mariupol is so close to Russia that it will be difficult for Kyiv to stop the forces.
A top member of the Doctor Without Borders said that situations at the port city of Mariupol are desperate because people are trying hard to flee.
Moscow has not commented if Russia bombs Ukrainian Muslims or not.
