Tinubu Set To Receive Proposal For Regional Government
President Bola Tinubu is set to receive the proposal for the regional government. The country practiced the system of government till 1967 when the then military head of state Yakubu Gowon decided to create 12 states from the four regions.
A draft for the proposal emerged last week and there have been several reactions from the people of the country, most of them commending the House of Representatives for mulling the idea of returning the country to the regional system of government.
The private bill, which was sponsored by Dr Akin Fapohunda would be sent to President Bola Tinubu, who will thereafter forward it to the National Assembly for deliberation. He will send it as an executive bill.
The bill allows each of the regional government to be semi autonomous.
