Palestine-Israel: Russian President Putin sets to settle conflict
Russian president Vladimir Putin is working on settling the conflict between Israel and Palestinian Hamas. Tension has further built up in the restive Middle East.
The Israeli military is pushing ahead with its reprisals on the blockaded Gaza Strip. The military started the attacks following the onslaught of Israeli citizens in southern Israel by the islamists Hamas.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that his military would deal with Hamas in Gaza decisively.
Interfax News Agency quotes Yuri Ushakob, a Kremlin aide as saying, “The president has already spoken to the president of Syria and the president of Iran.”
The aide also said that Putin would have phone calls with Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the Egyptian president along with Mahmud Abass, the Palestinian leader.
Ushakov said, “During the day there will be more phone calls with the presidents of Egypt — Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Palestine — Mahmud Abbas, as well as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”
