Presidential results: PDP and LP are chasing a flown bird
The presidential results are tickling in, the Independent National Electoral Commission are almost done with the collation and announcement is underway.
The PDP and LP are having a rapport to chase a flown bird. They want to catch the bird that is long gone. How unstrategic both the People’s Democratic Party and the Labour Party can be?
If they truly wanted to stop the All Progressives Congress and the ex Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu, they should have done that in January. They could have formed an alliance which wouldn’t require them to incite or call for anarchy covertly right now.
To state the fact, the PDP and LP are more or less mother and daughter. Considering the presidential candidates, both parties are related. After all, Peter Obi was in the PDP till mid 2022.
But due to lack of foresight, strategies, the PDP and LP went their separate way. Each side had hoped to beat the APC and win the presidential election. The results so far have shown their failure.
Rather than accepting defeat in a good fate, they are now uniting to call for cancellation of results. Both Ifeanyi Okowa and Ahmed Datti of the PDP and LP jointly addressed the press. They are sent to call on INEC to stop the collation and to ask for fresh election.
That address actually meant one thing. They have lost the election. Both PDP and LP along with Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi respectively have failed to beat the ambitious Yoruba politician, Tinubu.
The two parties have opportunity to maintain unity and work together to defeat the All Progressives Congress, whose chances Muhammadu Buhari has depleted.
Nigerians are still angry with the president over his policies and bad economy. Nigeria was almost totally on fire in the last two weeks due to the naira crunch.
