Plots to remove Akpabio thickens
The Senate under Godswill Akpabio has dispelled the speculations that the head of the upper chamber of National Assembly would be impeached.
Barely three months after the inauguration of the 10th Assembly, the house has been thrown into rancour with some senators reportedly murmuring against how Akpabio is leading the house.
The Senate sent on recess after it screened and confirmed the nominees for the Bola Tinubu’s cabinet. The Senate President himself has said that it’s a mere media attack.
He said, “the innuendo of the merchants of political tar brush by what appears to be a syndicated media attack from outside the precincts of the National Assembly.”
A report says that two senators from the North West geopolitical zone are working and scheming on impeaching the president of the Senate.
Apart from the personal reaction of Akpabio to the rumour, the senate committee on media has also talked about the matter. The committee said, “the Nigerian Senate is one united and fraternal family”.
The Senate spokesperson shedded more light to the issue. Mr. Yemi Adaramodu gave an insight into the main bone of contention. He said the “fake stories” in circulation revolve around the purported N100m given to each of the senators after the screening and confirmation of the ministers.

There was a gaffe when the Senate President Akpabio declared a recess for the senators. He said that a token had been sent to their respective accounts. He had to withdraw his statement when someone drew his attention to the presence of camera.
