In their large numbers, Osun APC members have trooped out to vote for gubernatorial candidate in Osun State election. The primary election is underway and members of the party are casting their votes.
The All Progressives Congress is battling internal crisis arising from the rift between Rauf Aregbesola and his successor Adegboyega Oyetola. The interior minister anointed Mr. Moshood Adeoti and ultimately snubbed Oyetola.
The state governor is seeking another term in office. But the road seems rougher for him this time around. He doesn’t enjoy the maximum support that he had four years ago.
The APC has adopted direct primary mode of selecting candidate for the exercise. And that allows party members to vote in their respective wards and local government areas.
The primary election committee has stipulated that accreditation would start at 08:00 and it would end at 12:00. Meanwhile, every member on the queue must be accredited.
Once the accreditation ends at 12:00, voting would commence fully. And the voters, who are Osun APC members, would queue behind the posters of their preferred candidate.
Three persons are jostling for the Osun APC ticket in the state. Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola wants to remain in the Bola Ige House till 2026. His rival in 2018, Mr. Lasun Yussuf is another candidate.
Furthermore, Mr. Moshood Adeoti, who flew the ADP flag in 2018 gubernatorial election is another aspirant. The winner in the Saturday’s primary election will face whosoever wins the PDP’s primary election.
The primary is ongoing amidst tight security. Our correspondence gathered that the exercise remains peaceful in Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State. There are 332 wards in the state and elections are ongoing concurrently.
The Online Parrot News has been closely watching the events in the the primary election. And as at the time of filing this report, there has been no breach of security across the 332 wards.
