Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has paid yet another visit to former President Goodluck Jonathan as he prepares for the 2027 general elections for the second time in a row.
Obi came third in the last general elections though he claimed that the presidential election was rigged by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in favour of the All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Tinubu.
He has paid visits to key former leaders of the country including Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Olusegun Obasanjo.
As part of his plans, Obi has also met with Jonathan. It’s not clear yet how the former leaders can boost his chance to occupy the presidential villa in Abuja because most of the former heads of the country have lost their influence.
The presidential candidate posted on his X account that he was able to met his “dear elder brother” Jonathan. He referred to Babangida and Obasanjo as “father figure”.
He posted, “Finally, on returning to Abuja yesterday, I caught up with my dear elder brother and Former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan, to also wish him a happy new year. I also had the opportunity of discussing germane national issues with him.
“President Jonathan’s patriotic approach to national issues remain admirable. I appreciate his kind advise and guidance and I wish him and his family a happy and productive year ahead.”
