Surprisingly, the PDP shuns Babayemi’s warning and subsequently given the certificate to Ademola Adeleke. The political party has officially recognized Ademola Adeleke as its candidate.
The primary election of the People’s Democratic Party was factional. Two different primary elections held in the state capital. And Mr. Dotun Babayemi emerged as the winner of the second parallel primary.
The ambitious politician argued that he was the duly elected candidate in the primary election. He specifically warned the PDP against upturning his victory.
Mr. Dotun Babayemi got the backup of the PDP elders in the state. Former Osun governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Chief Olu Alabi, Chief Shuaib Oyedokun, Mr. Tajudeen Oladipo, Mr. Fatai Akinbade were on ground for him.
But the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party chose to look at Ademola Adeleke’s side. He held his own primary at the Osogbo Stadium. Bayelsa deputy governor was the returning officer.
Babayemi had argued that if the People’s Democratic Party really wants to win the election, he should be the candidate.
He warned the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu. He said the hide and seek should stop immediately. But his warning didn’t move the leadership of the party.
In a closed door event, the same national chairman presented the certificate of return to Ademola Adeleke. Mr. Ayu was on ground and the event took place at his office in Abuja.
The National Working Committee has come up with an appeal committee for the primary election. The appeal would look into the grievances arising from the primary election.
Prior to the setup of the appeal committee, Mr. Dotun Babayemi had given the warning. He said the Osun State people are tired of the government of the All Progressives Congress.
The PDP shuns Babayemi’s warning amidst uncertainties. The party has officially given the ticket to the former senator.
