We’ve Nowhere to Go – Palestinians Cry out Again
Palestinians in Gaza are crying out again as their city remains under heavy airstrikes and bombardment of Israeli forces. They have withstood 8 months of intense bombings, shooting and airstrikes.
Most of the residents of Gaza have been displaced from their ancestral homes for up to four times with no indication that the war between Hamas and Israel would end anytime soon.
Israel has rejected most of the ceasefire deals including the ones proposed the United States President Joe Biden and approved by the United Nations (UN).
Despite asking them to return, residents of Jabalia were surprised to hear the sounds of tank shells and serious gunfire from Israeli forces and their drones. Several Palestinans are trapped in their homes, according to Reuters.
“This is the sixth time we have been displaced, we don’t know where we should go. To be honest, I don’t know. I have a three-storey building and now it was hit, I just got the news,” a displaced woman who asked not to be identified told Reuters in Gaza City.
“My husband is an amputee and he is stuck in Shejaiya. We have heard no news about him,” she said.
Health officials in Gaza said that Israeli airstrikes struck a house on the northern side of the blockaded Gaza strip. No fewer than 10 Palestinians lost their lives. Several others are missing apart from many who sustained injuries.
The war started on 7 October when armed Palestinian Hamas members surprisingly launched a multifaceted war on southern Israel. They succeeded in killing more than 1,000 Israeli citizens and took more than 200 as captives into Gaza.
Israel has been retaliating since that time killing up to 40,000 people. More Palestinians have also lost their lives in major West Bank towns including Jenin and Nabulus. There were also clashes in the Al Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.
