Palestine-Israel: Gaza’s death toll exceeds 10,000 with several more injured

As conflict between Israel and Palestine enters a month, death toll in Gaza has surpassed 10,000 as the United Nations calls on Israel to cease fire.

The war which started on 7 October has reached a more surprising level with the Israeli military engaging Hamas on ground in the blockaded and besieged Gaza Strip. Israel says it wants to root out Hamas terrorists in the area.

Crisis restarted when Hamas armed wing used parachutes, bulldozers and overran southern Israel on that Saturday in an attack which killed more than 1000 Israeli citizens and more than 300 soldiers.

Hamas also took captives to Gaza. Israel started its retaliation immediately and it has launched hundreds of airstrikes on the enclave. On Tuesday, Israel fired missiles on overcrowded Jabalia refugee camp to target a Hamas leader.

Of the close to 10,000 casualties more than 3,000 were children. Parents could be seen in graphic videos searching rubles to find remains of their children. Israel has been widely condemned for the airstrikes on the camp.

Israel says that it is facing little resistance in its ground operations in Gaza. Reuters says that Hamas fighters are engaging in hit and run attacks from their tunnels on ground.
