A top chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Ibrahim Olayemi Folorunsho has called for transparency and unity in the selection of the candidate of the party for the next gubernatorial election in the state.
In a statement he released through his Foundation said that the party would need to be careful and apply wisdom in the choice of the candidate. Online Parrot News learned that no particular aspirant has publicly indicated interest in the seat of the governor of the southwest state.
Folorunsho said, “As we approach the next political dispensation, it is crucial that the leaders of our party, reflect on the path forward with careful consideration and wisdom. The decision we make regarding our candidate for the upcoming election will shape the future of our party APC, our state, and our relationship with the broader political landscape.”

The chieftain, who has contributed immensely to the development of the party at the Ayedaade Local Government Area, Osun and in the country as a whole asked the party leaders to avoid imposition of candidates on the party. He called for open and transparent process that will enable the best candidate to emerge.
He argued, “I urge all party leaders to resist the temptation of imposition when it comes to the selection of candidate. The times we are in demand that we prioritize the will of the people, and not just the interests of a few. The generality of our members, supporters, and the people of Osun State deserve a candidate who truly represents their interests, not one who is chosen behind closed doors, bypassing the democratic process.”
The Gbongan-born politician commended President Bola Tinubu for giving juicy appointments and empowerment to the state chapter of the party. He therefore said that the leaders must work to use the president’s gesture positively.
“We must remember that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently the opposition in our state. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made significant strides in empowering us through appointments and initiatives that have the potential to turn the tide in our favor. It is imperative that we reward the President’s efforts with unity and transparency in our decision-making processes. Our actions should reflect our commitment to the progress of Osun State and the larger vision of our party.
“At this juncture, what our party needs is not division, but a candidate who can unite us. We must choose a candidate with deep roots in the community, one who understands the aspirations of the people and can build bridges rather than walls. Imposition will only sow seeds of discord and create factions within the party, weakening our collective strength as we face the challenges ahead.
“The primary election is not just about picking a candidate; it is about making a statement of unity, transparency, and commitment to the ideals that our party stands for. I urge our leaders to carefully consider the consequences of their decisions before making any final determinations. The future of our party and the success of our cause depend on it.”
