He has had close to 90 saves this season alone for the struggling Manchester United. But that is not the main record that stares at him.
He is about to be the Manchester United with highest number of clean sheets. He is behind the Danish Peter Schmeichel and Alex Stepney on the list of top clean sheet.
De Gea was solidly on ground for the Red Devils yesterday when they hosted the rampaging West Ham United in the English Premier League. He was able to stop the London team.
With that yesterday’s match, De Gea was able to increase his number of clean sheets from 161 to 162. Initially, he was on the same record with Gary Bailey on the list.
He has moved to the third place behind Peter Schmeichel with 180 and Alex Stepney (175). With more matches and clean sheets, De Gea may be able to catch up with Alex Stepney to occupy number two.
