One more Igbo politician will join the race for the APC’s ticket for the 2023 presidential election. The list is becoming longer as more Igbo politicians show interest in the job.
As at this moment, the APC has attracted at least three politician from the southeast part of the federation. They want to represent the party.
Mr. Orji Uzor Kalu seems to be the first to take the bull by the horns and face the teeming Nigerian crowd. And since he shook off intimidation, other have been coming out.
Mr. Dave Umahi has joined the list. His own ambition could be traced back to November, 2020 when he dumped his former political camp, the PDP.
The minister of labour and productivity, Mr. Chris Ngige has indicated that he may join the list, perhaps to make it longer. The former Anambra State governor gave clues at an event.
He was empowering members of the APC in Anambra State when he answered questions related to the 2023 presidency.
He said, “We have started political talks again. Please give me around Easter where we are going to have another session like this to discuss your request.”
The top minister said that he was still consulting leaders of the political party before he would conclude. He revealed, “I am still consulting political leaders in the country on your request, and by that time, I will decide.”
He said he had rights to decide whether he would contest for the race or not. And this is a fact. However, he seems to be under a kind of pressure to throw his hat into the ring for the 2023 race.
He therefore echoed “I know it’s my right to decide on that. I will take such a decision at the appropriate time.”
Mr. Chris Ngige will be the one Igbo politician to join the race for APC’s ticket.
