I inherited a “Dead” Economy – President Tinubu said through Bayo Onanuga

The presidency has reacted to the report of the New York Times that the administration of Bola Tinubu is grounding the economy of Nigeria. The presidency called the Times report as overly and misleading and that the foreign media often paint African government bad.

Ruth MacLean and Ismail Auwal have come up with a damning report on how President Bola Tinubu is handling the economy of the country. However, Tinubu’s assistant on media and strategy Bayo Onanuga tackled the New York Times and its report.

He said that the report was predetermined, reductionist, derogatory and denigrating.

“To be sure, President Tinubu did not create the economic problems Nigeria faces today. He inherited them. As a respected economist in our country once put it, Tinubu inherited a dead economy. The economy was bleeding and needed quick surgery to avoid being plunged into the abyss, as happened in Zimbabwe and Venezuela,” Onanuga argued.
