Obasa-led House of Assembly rejects Sanwo-Olu’s nominees again.

The Governance Advisory Council (GAC) has intervened to settle the rift between Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Mudasiru Obasa. The Obasa-led Lagos State House of Assembly rejected 17 of the 39 nominees that the governor sent to the house for confirmation.

Since Bola Tinubu went to Abuja to resume office, there has not been a defacto leader in Lagos State politics. Hence, all actors could claim leadership and wrestle such with one another.

The Obasa-led House of Assembly didn’t give reasons for the rejection of the nominees. But late the Speaker of the assembly, Mr. Mudasiru Obasa warned Sanwo-Olu, the governor, implicitly, to not throw stones. He also said that nobody could threaten him.

After the intervention of the advisory council, Babajide Sanwo-Olu resent the list to the assembly for confirmation as the 1999 constitution requires. He sent a list of 18 names, but the Obasa-led House confirmed 15 and rejected the other three.

The House of Assembly refused to confirm former Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Sam Egube and former Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Olalere Odusote. Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu submitted their names along with the 37 others in the first list.

The Lagos State House of Assembly has rejected them for the second time along with Tolani Akibu.
