Northern Governors Accuse Tinubu of Neglecting Zone In Allocation
The six governors in the northeastern part of the country have accused President Bola Tinubu of neglecting the area when it comes to project execution. The forum of the governors also lamented the distribution of electricity and pointed a finger at the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
The six governors had their 10th regular meeting at the Bauchi State Government House, Bauchi and released a communique in which they expressed their grievances at the administration of Bola Tinubu.
Professor Umar Babagana Zulum, the leader of the forum, read the communique after the meeting. He said that the president has snubbed the cry for attention from the war-ravaged zone.
It read, “Forum reiterates concern over the seeming neglect of the Northeast in the allocation of Federal Government Capital Projects. It noted with dismay that despite its cry for attention on the State of infrastructure in the region which has been consistently echoed in all its communiques over the years, especially the poor road and railway infrastructure along the economic corridors that link the Northeast subregion to the rest of the country, nothing serious seems to be happening.
“The roads from Enugu to Maiduguri are in deplorable state and the railway from Enugu up to Maiduguri has been destroyed.
“This is a major route for regional trade and very important for integration, peace building peace-building national unity. The region is also not included in the National Infrastructure Plan for the transition from PMS to Compressed Gas. The Forum is calling on the Federal Government to look into the situation and consider the reconstruction of this basic infrastructure along Enugu-Maiduguri the Economic Corridor and inclusion of NE in all National Development Plans and initiatives.”
