NNPP suspends Kwankwaso, see the reason

The New Nigeria Political Party (NNPP) has suspended its presidential candidate for the 25 February presidential election, Rabiu Kwankwaso. The candidate is a former governor of Kano State and he was once a minister.

The party made the decision to suspend him at the Board of Trustees meeting. There were no earlier reports of investigation or petition against the candidate to lead to his suspension. The board accused him of engaging in anti-party activities.

Specifically, the NNPP said that Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso was hobnobbing with the incumbent president Bola Tinubu while also having some relationship with Mr. Atiku Abubakar. Furthermore, the board of trustees explained that the presidential candidate was up to something with Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

There have been reports of rapport between Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi in the recent time.

The NNPP came fourth behind the ruling All Progressives Congress, the People’s Democratic Party and the Labour Party in the general elections. The party won Kano State in both the presidential and gubernatorial election.

The chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Babayo Muhammed Abdullahi addressed the newsmen after the meeting of the organ of the NNPP. He explained, “The material evidence in the public sector affirmed that Kwankwaso was involved in anti-party activities in various meetings, suggests political discussion with the president, Atiku and Obi without authorisation from the board”.

The BoT chairman said that the political discussion with members and leaders of other political parties “has earned him (Kwankwaso) six months suspension pending the outcome of investigation by the disciplinary committee “.

The sharp axe of the party didn’t meet Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso alone. Top members of the National Working Committee of the party have also been put under suspension. Dr. Boniface Aniebonam and Dr. Agbo Major, the national chairman and secretary respectively came under suspension last week.
