Tinubu and NLC Negotiation Fails To Bring New Minimum Wage
After up to one month since the last stalemate between the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Federal Government, President Bola Tinubu invited the labour leaders to the presidential villa with a view of finding a lasting solution to the labour crisis.
The presidency has indicated its commitment to a wage above N60,000, but recently backtracked by stepping down the proposal following an expected rejection by the governors through their forum.
On Thursday, the president held a meeting with the labour unions. It had ended in a deadlock just like the previous meetings between the two sides.
The meeting is now inconclusive and the two sides would meet again next week. The NLC is insisting on N250,000 as new minimum wage.
