NJC Suspends Two Judges, Recommends Retirement for Two Others
The National Judiciary Council (NJC) has suspended two judges for various violations of codes of conduct guiding the judges.
The NJC in its meeting suspended Justice G. C. Aguma of the Rivers State High Court from performing any judicial functions for a period of one year. He will not receive any pay for the period and he will be on the Watch List for additional two years after the suspension.
The NJC also suspended Justice A. O. Nwabunike of the Anambra State High Court for a period of one year similar with Aguma. He will be on watch list thereafter.
The Bench under Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the Chief Justice of the Federation, has decided to restore sanity to the judiciary.
Two more judges have been recommended for compulsory retirement for age falsification.
