House of Reps Proposes 2 Vice Presidents for Nigeria
The lower chamber of the National Assembly, the House of Representatives, has proposed two vice presidents for the country arguing that the two regions of the country should have a vice president each.
The green chamber is mulling over amendments to the constitution of the country and one of the areas is to to have two vices for the president of the country with each of them coming from the north an south region of the nation.
35 members of the house moved the bills along with others and they have already passed the first reading.
The spokesperson for the group gave a press conference after the plenary in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory on Monday. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, who is representing Ideato North/South federal constituency, explained that the proposed reforms aimed to reduce government expenditure, improve governance efficiency, and enhance national stability according to Sahara Reporters.
Nigeria constitution currently allows just one vice president.
