N-Power Beneficiaries to Receive 8-month backlog stipends

The Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu may have listened to the yearnings and complaints of the hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries of the N-Power programme.

Ex President Muhammadu Buhari initiated the programme for youths so as to empower them. The federal government pays each of them a stipend of N30,000 per month.

But the payments have stopped coming and about two weeks ago, the minister in charge of the programme and other poverty alleviation programmes announced the suspension of the initiative.

Mrs. Betta Edu alleged that the N-Power programme is full of scams and that it’s not transparent enough. She also alleged that the beneficiaries hardly go to the Primary Place of Assignments where they are supposed to work.

But Mr. Akindele who is the national coordinator of N-Power has revealed another development on the programme. He said that the government has recovered stolen funds from the programme and that the Batch C of the beneficiaries would begin to receive their stipends.

He said, “The good news is that the funds have been recovered yesterday and you will be getting your money soon. Payment for N-Power Beneficiaries Batch C who have been owed for eight months will begin soon.”

The coordinator also explained that there are many irregularities in the programme. He cleared the air, “These irregularities have made the common man to lose faith in the ability of the government to provide social safety cover for its population but Dr Betta Edu is engaging all necessary steps to resolve these issues and deliver the Renewed Hope Mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Nigerians”.

“Many irregularities which hitherto had sabotaged the smooth implementation of the Program are being addressed. It would be recalled that on assumption of duty, it was noted that many beneficiaries did not receive payment for their monthly allowances while monies were been held up by the consultant managing the enrollment and payment system whose contract had long expired. The good news is that the money has been recovered and it would allow for payment of beneficiaries.”
