As a registered and committed member of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), I feel compelled to contribute to the growth and stability of the party as we approach the next political dispensation.
It is disappointing to see and learn that some of our leaders, who ought to wait for unity and direction from the party stakeholders, have allowed personal ambitions to override the overall collective interest of the APC. Their actions are beginning to sow seeds of division within the party. This is not in line with the principles of progressive politics that APC always represents.
In Osun State, it is widely acknowledged, even by 99% of its citizens, that APC has a very strong chance of reclaiming the governorship seat in 2026, if only our leaders can unite and strategize collectively, rather than allowing selfish interests to threaten the party’s structure and cohesion, and ultimately the goal.
It is against the ethics of proper mobilization for any aspirant to begin political activities or campaign movements when the party’s stakeholders have not yet given official directives. Such actions are premature and can be considered a violation of the party’s internal processes, potentially leading to internal crises and avoidable consequences.
We are calling on all (gubernatorial) aspirants to respectfully shelve their ambitions and allow the party leadership to lift the ban and release the guidelines before making any moves. More importantly, it has not been officially declared by our leader, H.E. Adegboyega Oyetola, that he will not contest in 2026, so any premature declaration of support or campaign by factions only bring confusion and instability.
To our respected leaders behind these moves, we humbly urge you to call for peace, unity, and discipline within the party. Let us protect this opportunity to unseat the current PDP administration in Osun State and ensure that the party returns to power through a well-coordinated and inclusive process.
