There’s No Proposal for N105,000 As Minimum Wage

The presidency has refuted the report making the rounds that finance minister Wale Edun has proposed a sum of N105,000 as the new minimum wage for the workers.

There are still uncertainties over the fate of the labours, who downed tools on Monday. On Tuesday, the reached an agreement with the government, which said it’s committed to paying above N60,000 as the new wage.

On Thursday, a piece of news went viral that the minister has made a proposal. Online Parrot News had earlier today reported that Wale Edun has submitted his report to the president, Bola Tinubu.

The content of the report was said to be N105,000 as the new wage. However, the presidency said that the report was fake.

Bayo Onanuga, the adviser to the president on information and strategy debunked the news on his X account.

He said, “The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage.

“The contrary story being disseminated is false.”
