We will achieve Biafra no matter military bombardment – MASSOB
Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State Biafra (MASSOB) has said that the current military bombardment of the Igbo land won’t stop the movement from actualizing a republic for its people.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigerian Army have stepped up their operations in the southeastern region of Nigeria. They are rooting out militants and “terrorists” who are fighting for establishment of the Biafra Republic.
MASSOB said that the agitation would continue and it accused the military of tagging Igbo youths as terrorists and engaging in ethnic cleansing.
About two weeks ago, some yet-to-be-identified gunmen lay an ambush on military personnel and set them ablaze. Lives were lost and the military reportedly carried out a reprisal, which Ohanaeze Ndigbo has condemned.
The movement talked through its leader Comrade Uchenna Madu, and the National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel in a statement. MASSOB isn’t as aggressive as the Indigenous People of Biafra and the militant wing, the Eastern Security Network.
MASSOB also accused Arewa and Oduduwa people of hatred. The statement said, “This is clear evidence and a true manifestation of pathological hatred and jealousy against Igbo nation by the Arewa and Oduduwa people.”
The movement further added that the bombing of Igbo communities and destruction of lives and properties of Igbo people wouldn’t yield any positive result.
It said, “Bombing the so-called hideout of the unknown gunmen will never yield any positive result; you can never get peace by bombing or killing the people.”
